Collaborative Team Approach
ETC opens up the possibility of working with a team of therapists each with different skills, passions, and strengths, to provide you with different kinds of support. What might this look like? When appropriate, an ETC therapist seeing a couple might consult with another ETC therapist seeing a member of the couple to gain a more holistic view of an individual and better support all involved. Or an ETC therapist seeing a client struggling with PTSD might refer the client to another ETC therapist who provides EMDR for several sessions.

Individual or Relationship Therapy
Individual therapy takes place between you and your therapist and is a space for understanding, exploration, healing, change, transformation, etc. While both individual and relationship therapy can focus on relational challenges and curiosities, relationship therapy brings members of a relationship together with a therapist to work in support of the relationship. While couples therapy is often what people think of, relationship therapy can take place with relationships of all kinds, including intimate, familial, and business relationships.
Cultural Somatics
Cultural Somatics is an approach that seeks to unsettle practices of somatic therapies that have leaned too heavily on Western ideas, and make visible how collective and cultural traumas are embodied in individuals and communities. At ETC we seek to work with the bodily inheritances from racism, colonization, and other forms of oppression and marginalization, and explore ancestral and cultural wisdom and practices that offer pathways of healing, reclamation, agency, and aliveness.

Somatic-Inspired
EMDR
EMDR, which stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a therapy modality that can help alleviate distress and energy associated with traumatic memories that intrude in the present. This is a less linear way to process images, sensations, and emotions that are held in the body. ETC therapists move between the landscapes of story, EMDR, and somatic practices when useful.
Brainspotting
Brainspotting is a body-based therapy that helps you access and heal emotional stress and trauma stored deep in the nervous system. By tuning into internal sensations and guided mindfulness, it allows unresolved experiences to surface and release, supporting clearer regulation, relief, and emotional balance. It is also effective in supporting creative, professional, and athletic performance.

Art Therapy
Sometimes words are not sufficient to fully process a feeling or experience. Art therapy provides a means of expressing and processing where words fall short, or just aren't cutting it. Art therapy is an ideal mode of therapy for children but can also be helpful for adults. While creative people may be drawn to art therapy, it is appropriate for anyone regardless of perceived "skill" as an artist.

Eco Therapy
What does it mean to heal as a collective? Ecotherapy is one modality that considers the effects of our relationship with the earth and other-than-human beings. Connecting with the healing power of the interconnectedness found in nature, and listening deeply to the inherent wisdom and metaphors that can emerge, ecotherapy can support shifts in perspective, new associations, and alternative ways of making meaning of life's dilemmas. ETC offers individual, relationship, and group ecotherapy experiences.
Therapy Intensives

Therapy Intensives can be a powerful site for those seeking a more immersive therapy experience in a condensed time frame. These intensives are co-constructed collaboratively with one or several ETC therapists and support healing and transformation that is aligned with your preferred goals.
Groups & Collectives
Group therapy is a less frequently considered approach to treatment, but is highly effective and often results in more rapid changes than individual work. Groups offer a chance to work in the here and now, to be held in community, and the opportunity to experiment, stretch and grow within relationships. Some groups focus on offering support around a specific theme (grief, chronic pain), while others are more process oriented.
In-Person & Telehealth

Our therapists provide in-person therapy in Pasadena. In-person therapy can be highly effective because it allows for immediate, nuanced communication through body language, facial expressions, and nonverbal cues that are often missed online. It provides a secure, private, and distraction-free environment, fostering a strong therapeutic alliance, deep connection, and a better overall assessment of mental health.
Telehealth has become a mainstay in psychotherapy because of the ease and flexibility it brings to scheduling. All therapists at ETC are well-versed in providing modifications for Telehealth as needed, helping assess if it’s right for you and keeping your information as secure as possible with HIPAA-compliant platforms.
